Before the modern trend for single varietal wines, winemakers created blends based on what would best showcase the vintage and terroir. It is with this school of thought that the wines that make up the 2013 Hook or Crook Napa Valley Red Blend were fermented separately then blended together to achieve this bold – yet approachable – wine from the most famous wine region in North America.
The nose offers a bouquet of toasted cedar, black cherries and hints of orange blossom honey. The palate offers a round velvety mouthfeel that balances notes of lavender, tobacco, mocha and a subtle oak presence.
