Cantico

El Cantico, mystic or man, sends out soft sounds of celebration; gentle musical notes dancing amongst the rolling hillside of Uruñuela, Spain in the breath-taking region of Rioja.
Our carefully selected grapes grow slow and steady taking all that can be extracted from the iron enriched soils only to give it all back to you in an expressive glass of Rioja Crianza.

WINEMAKING
The grapes were handpick from carefully selected small parcels at optimum stage of ripeness. Gentle de-stemming and crushing. Cold soaked at 5ºC during 48 hours. Temperature controlled fermentation and maceration beginning at 20-22ºC and finishing at 27-28ºC towards the end of the fermentation in stainless steel tanks during 12-15 days.
After malolactic fermentation the wine was racked into 1 and 2 year old French and American oak barrels of 225 liters where it was aged for 14 months.

TASTING NOTES

Deep ruby red color. The wine explodes with complex aromas reminiscent of black fruit, black cherries, toast, vanilla, cloves with underlying notes of tobacco and earth. The wine is full bodied with intense aromas of rich black berry fruit combined with toast, tobacco and autumn leaves. Refreshing acidity and mature velvety tannin’s will give this wine a long life. The finish is long and lingering. This wine is ready to drink now, but it will also keep well throughout 2018.
